Default Help with setting up Shipping.

    Hi all,

Ok I am almost complete setting up a clients store. He is selling Nascar Diecast cars and stuff.

He wants a set amount for shipping broken down into scale sizes which is also categories. The way he wants it is:

1:64 scale cars and smaller he wants say 4.95 for first item and 2.95 for every item added per that scale.

1:18 & 1:24 Scale 9.95 for first item and 4.95 for each additional item per said scale.

Now I have setup the scale sizes for Product/Sub-categories ie:

    Nascar - Main Cat.
    Driver Name - sub cat
Scale Size - sub sub cat.

How can I do the pricing on this as I don't see an option to set shipping amounts per category?

    Thanks very much in advance.

Idea or Suggestion Re: Help with setting up Shipping.

    Anyone?

PLEASE I NEED A MOD for this.

    My scenario.

I used another Cart Program (name undisclosed as I don't feel it to be appropriate to post it here) to set up one of my clients site.

Alot of the things he wants I cannot get from the other cart program unless I/he pays for it which he doesn't want to pay for extras and I won't get reimbursed for.

After researching the things ZenCart has to offer and the mods available I discussed it with him and he wants to use ZenCart for the things included with base install and the availability of the different mods he wants/needs. However the other Cart Program has this Shipping Mod included with the package as ZenCart doesn't and doesn't even have a Mod made for it. This is the ONLY Thing that is keeping my client from using ZenCart as this Shipping Mod is NECESSARY.

If anyone can HELP ME OUT, I would truely, truely appreciate it.

    Thanks very much in Advance.

I think you are going to need to type slower ... I haven't a clue what you are trying to do here ...

Pretend I know nothing about your site and shipping needs ...

LOL Ok let me try this again.

My client sells or is going to sell Nascar Diecast Collectable cars and such. He wants the items broken down into categories. IE:

    NASCAR - Primary Category
    -Driver Name - Sub Category
---1:18 Scale - Sub Sub Category
---1:24 Scale - Sub Sub Category
---1:64 Scale - Sub Sub Category

On his shipping rates he wants to have the shipping fees broken done for each of the Scale Sub Sub Category as follows.

1:18 and 1:24 Scale he wants shipping fees to be $9.95 for the first item and $4.95 for each additional item of the same scale size.

If he sells 2 of the 1:18 scale or 1:24 scale or a mix of either then it would add the $9.95(first item) + $4.95(second item) = $14.90 would be total shipping.

1:64 Scale he wants shipping fees to be $4.95 for the first item and $2.95 for each additional item of the same scale size.

So say he sells 2 of the 1:64 scale cars it would add the $4.95(first item) + $2.95(second Item) = $7.90 would be total shipping.

But if he sells one of the 1:18 or 1:24 scale cars and one of the 1:64 scale cars he wants the first item charged at $9.95 + $2.95 for the second item(1:64 scale)

If I knew code I would take the code from the other cart program and modify for ZenCart. I am sure there can't be that much difference, but then again I don't know code 100%, LOL.

Does this help any better? I know I am not much in explaining things for others to understand, LOL. I have only been working on this project for 2 weeks now non-stop and I am getting frustrated - Sorry

btw the test/demo site is here. Not much there as it is only a test site for the owner to see it and notify me of any adjustments/changes.

While you call the break down "scales" are these more or less shipping based on categories_id or the parent_id of the Top Level Category?

What I am looking for is a "trigger" that exists either on the Product or the Category that it belongs to etc. to know how to "group" the products to determin the shipping based on what is in the cart and the quantity etc.

I think the way it is set in the other cart program is by category ID.

I know when I set up the other and when I was in the Categories section I was able to list the shipping prices for that specific category after I defined the shipping fee method in the Shipping Module "Per Category".

    Hope that helps.
