    Default Handling Fee?

Can I set up a different Handling fee for different items in my store? It's my last, best hope to do what my client wants.

Sorry to beg, but I really need some help!

Are the Products somehow grouped for the different Handling Fees or is this haphazard and strictly on a per product basis?

Can you utilize the Attributes to add the handling fee?

If you already use Attributes then this is not a bad method to solve this ... but if you do not use Attributes this may not be the best route to go ...

Examples might help come up with a better solution ...

I've used attributes to do things like personalization (initials), color choices, specific models. How would I use an attribute to do a handling fee? Is there a way to force the customer to select an attribute?

Here's an example of what I'm talking about. My client has two types of products in her store: those she sells directly (stuff in her warehouse and shipped from her), and 3rd party products (stuff she orders directly from the artist.) For anything she sells directly, standard shipping rates apply. But for anything from a 3rd party, there are drop ship fees, handling fees. All of the different 3rd party stores have different options, too.

I didn't really do anything with product types because it looks as if I can't add any or do anything with them. If that would help me, please let me know. I'm at wit's end here and up against a deadline to boot.

These Products ... is there something like:

Grouped by the Product manufacturers_id all get 1 charge?

Grouped by the Product categories_id all get 1 charge?

Grouped by something in the products_model all get 1 charge?

More or less is there a trigger to indicate that these 12 products get an extra $5.00 and these 8 products get an extra $2.50 ... etc.

I have this same issue. I'd like to assign a $5.00 handling fee to a particular product category. Can this be handled in the admin?
    Thanks for any advise.

Couldn't figure out how to do this in the admin, so I cloned the loworder fee module and renamed everything loworderfee to handling fee. Works great.

Can you provide details on what you did? I'm having a similar issue.
