Up n Runnin!!! But how to make a pop-up Window on load

The title says it all I think, got the site on line, loads of hits per day but no customers yet :-( I know it takes time...
So now for the dumb question... I would like to have a pop up window open on main page load... we are a music shop with a recording studio, and I would like to advertise some of the bands that we have recorded and promote their CDs i.e. the ROOT BOOTLEG CD for sale on the site....

Pleeeeeeeeeeease enlighten me :-)

If I came to your site and you had a popup in my face ... I'd be leaving ... fast ...

How about utilizing one of the 8 banner locations and it could display things randomly for you and not be so obnoxious ...

Hi Linda, thanks for the errrrrrrm tip??? :-)
I know I hate them too, I do advertise one of the bands in one of the side boxes and although we are not a record company it is great advertising and makes the young bands feel special Awwwwww ... result... great music shop and they come back to buy stuff which is I guess why we are all here :-)

I am interested in doing this exact thing and would like to know if anyone can point me in the right direction? I am more interested in one of the pop ups that looks like it is part of the page, not a new window. I don't have a link, but I assume that it is javascript that makes it look like it slides down the screen. it has a X to close it and then it is gone. Looks like it is just laying on top of the page. Thanks for any help

I did some looking around and found a site that had the exact drop down box that i needed. So I lifted the code ad am posting it here for anyones use. The only thing that it really needs is code to stop it from showing up every time the page loads. If I decide to use this, I will look for code to do his. If anyone has this code, I would love to take a look.

Just change the attached file to .html and it will work in a browser.
