'Who's Online' number increase

1) Is there a way to manually input a starting number for users onine?

In other words, if the actual number of users online is 15...can I have it appear as 2015, etc.?

You are much better off just to turn the box off than to lie about how many people are online.

Yes, of course my feelings would be the same if those numbers appeared on the shopping cart. However, they will not.

If you have followed my postings you would also realize that I have two other sites created with zen which do not involve the shopping cart feature. These focus around public flows of information, in particular historical documents and web resources. It is my intention to create an atmosphere where users are not intimidated to submit resources, documents, sites etc. because they feel no one will see them.

However, that is exactly why I have the number of vistors showing. So these users realize people are visiting the site.....

I believe you are using joomla on those sites, why dont you ask in their support forum instead?

A lot can change in a year and 9 months... Perhaps the OP was using Zen Cart for the info sites then. I notice the historicohio site still is not using a counter (inflated or not:).

E-commerce or not, directly lying about your visitor numbers doesn't seem right. That's a different matter from starting an id counter at a higher point.

I rather suspect that the clear ethical issue was the reason the question wasn't answered directly.

e-commerce more than any other branch of web design or retailing demands trust, and I doubt that that many of the people who have worked with Zen Cart for an extended period would be comfortable providing the information being requested.
