    red flag Define_main_page not writable

When attempting to change the text on my main page I'm getting this error:

Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: ***/***/public_html/***/includes/languages/english/html_includes/***/define_main_page.php

I've changed permissions to writeable via my cpanel AND FTP to no avail. The error message does not change. Any ideas?

Did you change permissions on the file only?

If so you need to change permissions on the "html_directory" as well.

I've followed the chain all the way up to includes to see if that would fix it. No go

Wanted to let you know that I found out why changing the permissions wouldn't work. I discovered that the define_page files are also in the classic folder of the html_includes. I don't seem to recall them being there before. Anyway, it's all fixed now so I'm happy

NOTE: you should really be using the template and override system so that on the next upgrade all of your customizations are not wiped out ...

I am, that's what is so strange. I have each of the edited pages in a custom folder in the html_includes folder. That's the one I originally changed the permissions on to make them writeable. No idea why the classic folder is the one that's being used but it seems to be.
I've been using the override system all along (since learning how that is LOL)

does this mean that your folder structure looks like this:

    /html_includes/CUSTOM_DIRECTORY_A/define_*.php
    /html_includes/CUSTOM_DIRECTORY_B/

    Instead of

/html_includes/YOUR_TEMPLATE/(which includes ALL the define_*.php files; just as the classic folder does.)

This is how mine is set up, with all the define_*.php files in it. (now it does anyway LOL) I found that the main page wasn't in it. All the others were though, which is good. Guess that explains alot huh?

Amazingly this is the first time I've had to post due to a problem. Most of the time I've been able to find the answer without having to. Figures it would be my own fault LOL

Thanks to all for the aid.
