Installing a customer service rep program

I am thinking of including a customer service (live contact) program to my zen cart for those who have questions while they shop. From what I understand, after the program is loaded on my server, it is a simple matter of incorporating some simple html.

If i wanted this on my front page, what would be the file that I would put the html code in and is there a specific place in that file to do so? For instance, does it go in one of the css files?

ZenCart uses PHP, not HTML, to configure and build the web pages DYNAMICALLY.

Bits of HTML is "embedded" in some of the php files, but there is no "static" - index.html page in zencart.

Your best bet is to construct a SIDE BOX that will contain this element...


But if you're not familiar with PHP and Database driven dynamic webpages, then spend a few weeks getting to grips with how these things work. It's VERY DIFFERENT from static HTML.


There is a BLANK SIDEBOX module in Downloads that provides the first step for you. You'd tweak the various php files in this module to suit your requirements, then "enable" the new sidebox when it's ready (This is done in ADMIN->TOOLS->LAYOUT BOXES)

think i will just hand it off to my web hoster dude...he has php, cgi, all that kind of experience.....he is a GOD!! Ok, so I tell him that everytime he fixes something I cant do :) Works :)
