extension to the free gift?

hey guys, hope someone can help/point me in the right direction.

i've got a category of products where if a customer purchases a combination of 4 of them, we would like to include a free gift..

is there an easy way to give the customer a choice of the free gift?

for example, if the customer add's 4 boxes of ink cartridges to their cart, we'd like to give them a choice of a few different types of paper..

i've gone through the dev. docs and wiki.. dont have a problem getting it to work if we only had one type of freebie, but any ideas on how to give the customer a choice of the 4?

is there a way to make the cases of paper attributes maybe and programmatically hide the attribute box? or is there an easier / better way?

This would be a good question for Ajeh.......she's super with the attributes. I think you're on the right track, but if you do this with attributes, why would you want to hide them? If you do, then people couldn't "choose" the free gift. It would still default to giving them one choice.......I think.
So, if you've already got it to work with one product, then add the other products as attributes with a dropdown list, so they can choose which one they want. That should work.
If I'm wrong.......as I sometimes am.........Ajeh will correct me, when she gets on today.

hey get em fast, thanks for the reply.. i had to re-read my initial post.. dont think i finished the morning coffee before posting..

i'd like the attribute to only be available if the order quantity is >= 4

i'm wondering if i can just leave it on there all the time for those products, and automatically remove it or ignore it, if the quantity is < 4..

I'm sure there's a way to do that, also. But that would deffinately be a question for Ajeh........she'll pop up here in a little while with an answer, I be. She's usually VERY busy answering questions in here, so it may be a little while. I've noticed, though, that if her name is mentioned a few times in a post......she just "pops" up outta nowhere.......she's just like that, ya' know.
