attribute question

I understand attributes pretty well, and I know it's possible to add more than one attribute for a product and allow the customer to choose them. For instance, if a t-shirt comes in different sizes and colors, then the customer could use one dropdown for the size and one dropdown for the color...that part I get....

However, is it possible to make the selection in one box determine the choices in another. Take the above example where a shirt may come in say. Large and X-Large...but maybe the Large is only available in white and black, and the X-large is available in red and blue. When I select Large, can the attribute choices in the color box change to white and black? If so, will the attribute image swap work with it?

I hope I was able to explain that correctly...any help would be much appreciated!

I don't think it's possible yet, but it could be configured using some javascript perhaps... (not my area of expertise!)

Here's a thought...

In zen 1.3.7, on the Customer Registration input form, you can shoose to "State - always display as a Dropdown". (Set under CONFIGURATION>CUSTOMER DETAILS)

Go to one of my sites and fill out the registration form as if you were a new customer.

I have put the COUNTRIES field ABOVE the COUNTY/PROVINCE field because it has a very distinct effect on what happens next.

Now...

If you have admin-configured COUNTRIES and ZONES to include COUNTIES, then after you select your country in the registration page, the appropriate COUNTY LIST will appear in the next drop-down.

Try it...

Select United Kingdom and then see what COUNTIES are displayed.

Then...

Change to UNITED STATES, and all the USA states appear in the drop down.

BUT THE CLEVER BIT IS THIS...

Choose UGANDA...

NOW... an ADDITIONAL INPUT FIELD POPS INTO THE FORM...

That's just what we want to happen with ATTRIBUTES !

So, it seems to be possible.... but how to code it ????
