Making external links in htmlarea

I finally got links page recognized by the system and have entered what I want. However the external links are bogus - for example I entered http://www.ifgt.org and the link comes out http://therasounds.com/store/admin/\\www.ifgt.org
The same thing is happening with the other link. What is happening and where do I go to correct the problem?

Eureka! I got it, but I had to take the defines file and edit it in another editor. The HTMLarea editor must have some bugs in it.
