Looking good! It's not exactly what I need, but it looks like it will buy me another 6 to 12 months before I have to consider another approach (or modification, perhaps).

Thanks for sharing this, Absolute! Hopefully they will update the Downloads section soon.

I tend to agree with 01011010...Kudo's on the effort but with your mod if I have like 10 colors and 10 sizes of a product that’s going to take the whole page (or a lot of scrolling) to display that grid of all those possible combos. What we need is drop downs of the colors and once you pick a color, the drop down below it checks the inventory and changes based on if you have that size on what color you chose on the upper dropdown which would be the color you choose. So if you didn't have a small red t-shirt in stock it would remove the small from the lower drop down box and only display large and medium options to choose from. So basically do the same thing you just did, but have the combo boxes change dynamically depending on what the customer chooses from his selection...

Alright check this out, the mod should be able to work like walmart dot com does it, go to there and go to Home Page > Apparel > Men > Shirts & Sweaters and choose the Men's Organic Cotton-Cashmere Blend V-Neck Sweater.

Once there you will see that you can choose
Step 1. Select Size (Large and X Large)
    Step 2.Select Color
This is the kicker....as you select the Large or Xlarge above in step 1, Step two changes and updates based on the stock, to show the current colors they have in stock.
Which is (Black and Grey for Large)
    and Only (Grey for Xlarge...)
this fature is updated dynamicly and changes each time you change your tshirt size in the drop down in step one.

I am adding the link below, but if it doesn't show, then just follow the steps above to see the feature in action

    cg3001,

In order to accomplish what you've demonstrated at Walmart.com, you're going to need a very different module than Product Attribute Grid.

The purpose of an attribute grid is to allow the user to purchase larger quantities of items, such as a red, purple and green shirts, in 6 different sizes, all in one go. This is ideal for primarily the wholesale market, and serves little purpose in average retail commerce.

That being said, I am impressed with Walmart.com's method. If somebody would make such a module for Zen, I surely could use it for retail sales, but that belongs in another thread altogether.

I think what you want is a completely seperate type of mod than this. If you look at the WallyWorld source code you will see that it is all done with javascript and is kinda heavy. And this is for a fairly few attribute combinations. Put 100 attributes and the code will become as heavy as a boat anchor. It would be much more sensible to develop a lightweight AJAX approach that populates the subsequent fields after the first field option is selected by sending a small request to the server with the returned data populating the second field. This can go on for as many fields as necessary.

For those folks on this thread that have programmers at their disposal, there are ajax/php scripts available that can be adapted to do this. I hope to be able to be at that point in my programming chops this year sometime.

Is there an update on this?

I have already installed the Product Attribute Grid and Stock by Attributes Mod, but it still will not accomodate all of the options I need.

I am building a Custom T-shirt store with Zen Cart 1.3.8.

I just want to be able to have the size quantities entered in addition to other attribute selections that the user chooses.

I can make the Product Attribute Grid work in testing for just the size option, but as soon as I add the other attributes, like color, text font, etc.. the grid no longer is created.

Any help would be appreciated, but I am at my wits end. I really like Zen Cart and have had no problems setting up and getting it functional. The customer wants this feature and I am now clueless as to how to provide it!

    Yes I am begging!
