help! computer illiterate!

I'm a newbie to this and i want to get my own store up and running. I'm quite computer illiterate but am determined to do this myself. Can anyone give me a absolute run-down on what i need to do to install zen-cart and have my own webstore? In lamen's terms, please...

Ok, well, i've had downloaded 1.3.7, that is on the zen-cart home page. Is this right? This internet explorer file came up in the folder once i saved it.

You could start with the tutorials/FAQ:

Basically, when I started using Zen cart, I took the college study approach. Set aside one hour per day to learn this. Start by installing Zen in a sandbox with the idea that it will take some time to learn.

If you get frustrated or confused, then stop for the day. When you feel that you are making progress, treat yourself to some comfort food as a reward.

After a few days things start to 'click' in your mind and pretty soon you will have it down!

That doesn't sound right. Try downloading again. you should save the file to disk, and you should end up with a folder named "zen-cart-v1.3.7-full-fileset-12302006". This folder will have a lot of folders and files in it. Then that entire folder needs to be installed on a web server, where you then follow the installation instructions in the docs/ folder. Do you have a website registered yet and a web host?
