Tax Rate Not Displaying

I'm new to zen cart and I have been trying for the best part of the day to get the tax to display on the checkout page. At the moment it just displays:-

Sub-Total: $70.00NZD

Free Shipping: $0.00NZD

Sales Tax: $0.00NZD

Total: $79.00NZD

I have read all the information on the tutorial pages and on these forums about this problem with no luck. I know that im probably making a stupid mistake but could someone tell me where im going wrong. Here are my current settings related to the tax calculation:-

1. What are your store settings for these set to?
Admin->Configuration->My Store
a. Country = New Zealand
Zone = NZ
b. Basis of Product Tax = Store
c. Basis of Shipping Tax = Store
d. Display Prices With Tax = True
e. Display Prices With Tax-Admin = True

2. What Zone Definitions have you created?
Admin->Locations/Taxes->Zones Definitions

Zone Name = NZ
Description = NZ GST

3. Inside each of those zone definitions, what country/zone combinations have been selected?
Admin->Locations/Taxes->Zones Definitions, click on "Details" button for each zone

Country = New Zealand
Zone = NZ

4. What tax classes do you have?
Admin->Locations/Taxes->Tax Classes

ID = 1
Tax Classes = Taxable Goods
Description = Taxable Goods


5. What tax rates have you created?
Admin->Locations/Taxes->Tax Rates

Tax Class Title = Taxable Goods
Zone = NZ
Tax Rate (%) = 12.5000
Description = GST
Priority = 1

6. What tax class have you associated with your products?
Admin->Catalog->Categories/Products->click on a product to edit it

Tax Class = Taxable Goods

7. What tax class have you associated with each of your shipping modules?
Admin->Modules->Shipping

Free Shipping! Mod
==============
Enable Free Shipping = True
Free Shipping Cost = 0.00
Handling Fee = 0
Tax Class = Taxable Goods
Shipping Zone = NZ
Sort Order = 0

Just a quick note to say that when im *not* logged in I can see that the products in the side bar are displayed with the tax added on.. So im just not sure why it wont work when im logged on with the above settings.

thanks for the suggestion i tried that and the tax didn't show at all when i was logged on or not. Before I changed that I could see the tax added on when I wasn't logged on, but not when i was.

I have the latest version:-

Zen Cart 1.3.7

Database Patch Level: 1.3.7

v1.3.7 [2007-03-12 20:50:08] (Fresh Installation)


For the fresh installation I just followed ALL the instructions, making sure that there were no errors during each step. Everything else is working fine as far as I know so there can't be anything wrong with my installation?

Are you sure you want to base your tax on the Store vs the customer's Billing or Shipping address?

b. Basis of Product Tax = Store
c. Basis of Shipping Tax = Store

I am in Ohio ... why should I pay tax for NZ?

What happens if you change that to Billing and try the checkout with an NZ address for Billing?

Are we sure that this is a TAX gremlin? Perhaps it's being thrown in elsewhere?

What are your DEFAULT currency settings? Make sure default currency is set to 1.0000.

See if a packing charge isn't lurking in there somewhere - try switching OFF free shipping and applying other shipping modules (one at a time) - just to see if that's the cause...

Do any of these products have ATTRIBUTES they you may inadvertently added a price factor to? (Unlikely... but check it).

Low order fee setting???

Also, check the settings in Configuration ... My Store ... for:

Tax Decimal Places
Pad the tax value this amount of decimal places
