    Default Shipping Miscalc

    I found that someone had mentioned a similar problem in another thread, but they didn't respond to Kim's follow up questions.

    So, I'm interested in this module for my store. It's giving me just one problem though. Shipping is being improperly calculated during checkout.

    I use two rate tables by weight for domestic shipping, Parcel Post and Expedited. In the lower weight ranges, Expedited is cheaper due to First Class Mail.

    When the user checks out with any other option, they are given a choice of the two and shipping for both are calculated correctly. Of course, using PPEC they don't get a choice, but furthermore shipping is calculated incorrectly. It appears that weight is not being considered, or a 0 weight is used. So, they get the cheapest shipping available at 0lbs(Expedited Shipping at $.50).

    I've left it live on my site, so you're free to test it out. I'd suggest using the product Fancy Yarn -> Black Eyelash Yarn. I'd also keep the purchase under $20 because I have free shipping built into the table rate modules at $20. And PPEC users are given free Parcel Post shipping if they order $20, so that works.

    I've also found that this is not a matter of neglecting tare weight.

    Oh, and I have installed the patch of February 8th. The problem has existed before and after patch.

    Would appreciate any insight. (;

    I felt I should do some more trouble shooting and tried a fresh install.

    Got some weird results. I installed, put one product in one category. Installed one shipping method(table by weight), and two payment methods (check/mo and PPEC).

    Each item is 1 pound. I add 4 to my cart. Shipping estimator says that with Tare Weight this comes to 7 pounds, which costs $15 to ship by my table. Conventional checkout allows you to complete your order with a $15 shipping charge.

    When I checkout by PPEC and am returned to the checkout_payment I am given the following shipping charge:

    Table Rate (1 x 3.00lbs) (Best Way): $5.00.

    That's the correct rate for 3.00lbs, but obviously that's the incorrect weight given I have 4 1lb widgets in my basket, and tare weight isn't considered.

    Let me know any questions I can answer. (;

    If it would help to take a look, my test store is at:

    My setup:
    ZC 1.3.7 fresh install
    PPE only payment method
    Zone rates and FREE shipping installed
    Zone rates only ship mod that applies to this example (other mod is glued to a different category)

    I just found this myself this am, after turning on PPE, only thing I can see that is involved in this miss calc.

    Zone rates
    1:4.49,6:7.69,12:12.29,18:19.29,100:24.69

    Items are all 1lb, no tare

    Cust. orders 4 widget #1 and 1 widget #2, returning from PayPal with
    "Zone Rates (Shipping to US (0.00lb(s))): $4.49

    Just made the following changes, will wait for another order to see if this helps:

    1:4.49,2:7.69,3:7.69,4:7.69,5:7.69,6:7.69,12:12.29,18:19.29,100:24.69

    And
    Turned OFF in PPE "Select Cheapest shipping automatically

    The real odd thing is, prior to my changes, this is NOT showing on all orders. Only thing I can think is difference would be between a cust. clicking the PPE button for express checkout vs. passing thru the ZC 3 page checkout then to paypal?

    Costing me $$ trying also to get to the bottom of this.

    OK, for the record, my two(2) chgs above have seemed to put this behind me for now.

    Couldn't say if it was the PPE flip (auto select cheapest shipping), or me adding frt. brackets.

    The senario seems clear to me that *possibly*? the cheapest shipping hook might be it, and rather than look at the cart total wt, it sees (in my limited number of examples) 2 items, first item would be shipping of $7.69, second item would ship for $4.49, so ship it for the $4.49?

    Dunno
    I will be standing by for input from the gurus........

    I am seeing something similar to this. I have Table rate set up and USPS set up. I also have Automatically Select Cheapest Way enabled. I have had two orders in the last two days. Both had 0.0 lbs for the weight although both orders were between 1 and 2 lbs. PayPal only added minimum shipping. Fortunately these were not real heavy orders.

    I went back into my order history and had PPE orders in the early part of January that calculated the weight, and thus the shipping, in the order correctly. After that time I changed from MZMT tables to a straight Table rate to accommodate Google Checkout. So either the Table rate is not functioning correctly with PayPal Express or the Auto Cheap does not process shipping correctly. I changed the Auto Cheap setting to see if that makes a difference, but orders have not been frequent. I'll return with my findings whenever they occur...

    Meanwhile, Any ideas? Are there possibly changes in the modules that affect the shipping processing?

    Thanks,

    I'm working under the same solution, un-select auto-cheapest shipping.

    By all appearences there is a /bug/ in the interactions between table shipping and auto cheapest shipping.

    Haven't gotten any feedback from the devs yet, but this appears to be confirmed, so perhaps I should post in bug reports.

    Thanks for the confirmation, chain_man.

    Joe-

    Are you using the MZMT tables or have you cloned the stock table rate module?

    Kim,

    I'm only have trouble with the stock table rate module. I have cloned it on my main site. I tested it out though on a fresh install and it was giving a similar problem.

    I'm happy with the operation of PPEC with cheapest shipping unchecked, but if there is something I'm doing wrong here I'd love to find out so I can help my fellow bone-heads. (;

    Thanks much,
