For manufacturers, I know we can add an image/logo, a URL... but beyond that, I'm looking to add a description... a write up so that the customer doesn't have to leave my site to find out more information about the manufacturer.
Any ideas ?

You could add a new field to the manufactuers_info table for this as it allows for language ...
