Default CHMOD settings for images and folders

    Hello people,

I have installed Zen-Cart 1.3.7 on a Linux shared server.
    I upload images via FTP.

Now I have read the Security Recommendations and I guess I interpreted them wrong.

I set the images directory and all subdirectories and files (images) to 644. Suddenly no image appeared on my website....

I changed everything back to 755 and it worked fine.

Now I am confused and are looking for a little piece of mind:

must I set the image directory and the subdirectories to CHMOD 755?
and the actual images to 644?

    Thanks,
    Koen

Some of this is dependant upon the host configuration while some will see 644 as secure for your configure.php files others you need to set them to 444...

Same for the image and other files...644 you know does not work so either start at the 755 and work down or at 644 and work up using one image - when you have established the lowest that will function you can set them all
