rss feed on index.php

I understand that it's not possible to put up rss feeds in product descriptions but can put them in places like the information pages etc. - think this is to do with rss only working with php files that end in php ?

If you have a look at this site you'll see I've put a test rss feed up right at the bottom of index.php but would like to customize it so another box is created for the feed - would it be possible? If not is there an easy way to implement it into the bottom of the main index.php page (the main white box - just above Copyright © 2007 Zen Cart. Powered by Zen Cart)

btw I don't want to use any javascript for implementing the feeds.

Also would this be good for search engine rankings? - The main idea is to link to ebay auctions via affialiate links but if it brinks the whole site rankings down, I'd be happy to give it a miss.

You should be able to do that. Just place the rss feed in the home page area.

I wanted to put feeds into the discription areas for this other site but it keeps coming up blank. I can put javascript processed ones in no problem, but they are no good for search engines. I heard it's do with the description page not being actual php
