newsletters not sending in HTML format - using newsletter subscribe mod

Hi-

I am using zen cart v1.3.7

I tried to send out a newsletter to people who have checked HTML as their preference towards emails but when the newsletter is sent it converts it to TEXT-Only. So these html emails arent working and with my old zen cart it worked fine. Do you know what the problem is?


Also, when I try to send out an email in admin < send email, it does not deliver the email. after i hit send, this shows up at the top of admin:

Notice: Email sent to: angela183########################## (0)

The 0 above, indicating that the email was not sent.

To sum up, and consolidate everything into 1 post -

To increase the chances of emails sent from admin as HTML actually arriving as HTML, particularly to webmail based email systems such as hotmail, yahoo mail, gmail etc.; and to allow test newsletters sent to the admin email address to arrive as HTML, do the following:

Copy /includes/extra_configures/email_use_8bit.php to /admin/includes/extra_configures, so that both folders have a copy of the file.
Replace /includes/functions/functions_email.php with the attached copy, which incorporates DrBytes' suggested changes.

Do you have a set of recommended email settings from your hosting service?

im not sure. how would i find that out?

Your hosting company may have a support section with a settings or frequently asked questions page with some info, or give them a call or drop them an email.
Just say that your website has a requirement to send out confirmation emails, and an they tell you the recommended settings/setup to do so.
