How can I change the category listing?

I set the categories to show on the main page with an icon. But they are showing up in a straight line going down instead of listing across in rows. How can I get the icons to list across instead of one column?

I tried searching the forum but didn't find anything. If this has been answered before, please point me in the right direction.

well, i turn the icons off for the main page. It was the only thing I could figure out to do. You can look here http://scrappersmarket.net/market/in...=index&cPath=2 to see how they line up. This is a subcategory. Still not sure what I'm doing wrong.

In the Admin, when you go to:
Configuration > Maximum Values > Categories To List per Row (as stated in a previous post here)

What happens if you set the value to 3, 4, 5, or something like that? It should list your categories across the page rather than down.

If you list the value as "1" then your categories will display in 1 column DOWN the page. If you list is as say "3" for example then you'll get three columns going across the page like so:

Add ons Buttons/Brads Charms
Frames/Tags Packs Ribbons/Fibers

etc...

Does that make sense? If you haven't altered the code at all, then it should work.

I know this is an old thread but this is happening to me and I have set it to 3, no dice. Never had this to happen before.
