    Default Other CanadaPost shipping module

According to the CPshipping module v1.3.7 there is another one out there in case you can't use this one ...

Taken fron the CPmoodule install txt:
"Unfortunately, SOME of these files overwrite core files and can't be overridden in the ways that make ZC so wonderful... so when a new version of ZC comes out, this module will likely be broken.
There's another CanadaPost module out there that works well and may not overwrite as many core files but it doesn't have dimensional support."

Does anyone know where I can find this other one ?
I don't see it on this website.

    thnx

    Probably here:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/archived_con...ions/shipping/

Remember, all those files are for OLD versions of Zen Cart, and are not actively supported anymore.

I can't vouch for whether the CP modules in that area work properly or not, esp since CP's recent server changes this year.

    Hi DrByte

Thanks for the reply. You're obviously a senior zen member and fellow canuck, so perhaps you can advise me here.

I have shared webhosting with godaddy and their response to prerequisite for the CPmodule was this:

"Unfortunately you would be unable to connect through port 30000 on our shared hosting accounts. However, you may be able to use our proxy server to connect. The proxy port is 3128 and the proxy server address is proxy.shr.secureserver.net. "

I think this means I'm screwed. Is it safe to say then that in terms of support and compatibility with current zen versions I shoulod stick with Shipping Modules downloaded from this site ?

It looks like my only option now is the National and International Per Item Shipping unless there is another source for shipping modules that are somewhat current ?

    thnx

I too have just run into an issue with my host denying to open port 30000. I'm from Ontario and my shop will be selling clothing only to US and Canada. I'm wondering if maybe i should just have a flat rate for Canada and US and deal with the shipping on my own. Or is there another module someone could recommend?

Canada Post only allows rate-quote queries to happen on port 30000. There is no other module available, as CP doesn't provide any other automated way of retrieving rate-quote information.

You'll have to construct some sort of workaround.
    Possible options:
    - try a different carrier
    - work out your own geographic shipping tables based on average CP rates for regions
    - perhaps calculate shippnig based on cost instead of weight and hope things average out
    - or switch hosts to one that does allow access to CP
