sub category image change and move?

ok so all im trying to do is change my sub-category images and instead of them showing up on top of eachother i would like them to be side by side....
i.e.
category: Shirts
icon for mens and womens are little people with no heads and they are on top of eachother.
i found the icon for womens in the main directory "images" but no mens icon.

ok i figured out how to get the images side by side but still no luck on where the icons are....

ok so i found the images in the main images directory...
replaced both the "icon_mens.gif" and the "icon_womens.gif"
with my own images titled exactly the same....
weird thing is now my womens icon isnt showing up. am i missing something?
ive looked at the file names countless times to make sure they are correct but nothing... anyone have a clue?
