Stupid Counter question

Ok, so i've looked throughout the admin section and I cannot for the life of me find the counter. How can I see how many times my site has been hit? I've searched throug the forums and all i'm find is how to reset it or how to add it to the footer, niether of which i want to do , i'd just like to be able to see if I've been visited if at all . i'm using 1.3.7 .

when you open the admin,
look in the left columm,
you should see where it says
Statistics
Hit Counter Started:
