My Website is a little slow, any suggestions?

Hi Zenners,

I'm trying to speed up my website. I've followed the suggestions made in the Frequently asked Questions but my site stills works a little too slowly for my liking. My friends have all mentioned its a little slow aswell so I'd really like to speed it up as much as possible. I don't want customers to press the back button because they couldn't be bothered to wait!

Slow is a relative term ...

If first hit is slow in the browser, then this could be that the server is not optimized for the gethostbyaddr translation on the IP Address ...

NOTE: if site has little activity this could also "appear" to be the problem when it is really a lack of active cache on the MySQL database ...

If moving from the All Products to page 2, 3, 4, 5 and back through to 4, 3, 2, 1 does not speed up, then you have a poorly configured server for MySQL and php ...

If it does speed up considerably, then it is caching the information ...

If you find that the site is always slow, you may wish to speak to your hosting site about being moved to a faster server or less overloaded server ...

Based on the number of Products that you have ... I am more inclined to think that you may be either on an overloaded server or one that is poorly optimized for MySQL and php ...

Some image optimizing would help the loading time too. 200K is about twice the ideal.
