red flag how to make categories sidebox of my own style?

    Hello,

I have several product lines to be listed onto my category sidebox. I want to seperate product lines with different font color. For example, the 1st product line is "Jewerly", under this product line, I have Jade, Amber and Crystal. For each category, I have subcategory like pendant, bracelet and earring. I want the "Jewelry" in red, while categories (Jade, Amber and Crystal) and subcategories(pendant, bracelet and earring) all in black.

The 2nd product line is "Painting". Under this product line, I have wax painting, oil paintinG. For each category, I have subcategories like landscape, figure, flowers, animals, ect. I want "Painting" to be in red, while categories (Wax painting and Oil painting) and subcategories (landscape, figure, flowers, animals) all in black.

How can I achieve that? Please help!!

The category listing is built in /includes/templates/your_template/sideboxes/tpl_categories.php, and near the top is a section for giving specific categories their own styles.
You could use this in a brute force way and list all the top cats giving them one style and subcats another.
There are also other selection statements just below which may work more efficiently. Try them and see. The Classic template works much as you are requesting; compare its stylesheet with this file for any relevant tags.

If this is just setting Top Cats to Red and Subcats to Black ... can't you just do a view source and look at the class in use and set its color?

help question Re: how to make categories sidebox of my own style?

    Ajeh, gjh42,

Thank you for your suggestions. I still don;t get it. Could you please give me more details or show me the codes? That will make it much easier for me than figuring it out blindly by myself.
