I created my version 2 of the shop with zen cart and I want to move it now. How would I move it without screwing up everything? Right now I have www.mydomain.com/v2/ thats where the new shop is and I want it to be at www.mydomain.com

(not my actual domain just an example...)

I've done this several times using the directions found here:

The gotchas are the Config.php files in includes and admin/includes. You have to make sure they are not overwritten when you upload your files from the old server.

Don't ignore the installation step (1.) as it is important. On one move I tried to just create a database upload my old one, upload the files from my old server via ftp (notice I skipped step 1.) and low and behold it didn't work. Follow the steps and you'll be fine.

It's not actually necessary to move the site at all. You could just point your domain at the v2 directory instead of the directory above (or ask your host to do it for you) and then tweak the configuration files as per this thread.

It's a lot less effort and risk than hauling the whole site around.
