Zen Cart Landing Pages

I think I have figured out how to create landing pages. I may not be the first so do not yell if I am "stealing" an idea in the archives.

Note: I am using that SEO module. I do not know the name of it but it is only one I believe in the Downloads area.

I have decided to create various promotions under a category named "Landing Pages". This category does NOT show in the menu with other categories (the folder is a red light). However, the items under it are all turned on (green light).
Each item under this folder is a landing page.

Before I turned off the folder (Landing Pages) I went to the link of each item and copied the URL for reference.

I have tested it. You can still checkout this item. (My item is a gift card that is free.)

This set up allows you to hide special offers from all of your customers or potential customers and does not require them to log into their account or create an account at initial contact.

However, if you do create a special offer out of this "Landing Page" make sure you require them to create an account as you would want to build your mailing list (customer database).

Additionally, you can create these landing pages that are just informational by using the About Us download. (Rename it to your offer of course.) You can put the link in the Information sidebox to grab the URL then remove that link from the information sidebox. This way is long. EZ Pages may be better for this method. I am not that familiar with EZ Pages.

Sounds like it should be useful, I'm just trying to get my head around what I could use it for.

How do you intend people finding the page? Advertising the url, or linking from somewhere else maybe? Or do you intend submitting that page to the search engines?

Just thought, it could be used where groups of items or assemblies are sold to a particular customer. Or maybe for work where a quotation has been submitted and the customer wants to pay by credit card? Stage payments even [deposit, main payment, balance] where bespoke products are being sold.

I plan using them for special offers. We tried to get the "hidden categories" modules to work but ran into a lot of problems so we uninstalled it.

So in a sense, this is my way of creating hidden categories and landing pages together.

I have created a special offer which is a $50 off gift card. I will send that offer to select customers. I know I could have done this from the backend. However, I really want to see who clicked on the link. I do not subscribe to Constant Contact.

I am sure there are lots of ways this can be utilized.

Does anyone know of anyway to use these special landing pages for PPC and CPC campaigns on Google? I think Zen Cart could really use a feature such as this or if anyone else can tell me how they have done it I would be very appreciative. Thanks.

So I want to do this lading page thing ... Why?

Because: I have an ad targeted to a specific category (Funeral Flowers)... So I want the customer to Land on the category page with all the funeral arrangements (so its easy to choose and buy) + appropriate category description text (which matches the advert they just saw) + promotion (free deliver to funeral home). I do not want regular shoppers to see this page. I do not want the customer to make unnecessary clicks to get to the product.

Link Tracking - is easy to do with google's URL builder which will track all the way to purchase for conversion rates etc.

I will try the above solution, but there is definitely a need for this...
