    Default Authorize.net ~ What is she doing?!

    I'm trying to close the deal on this client, but for some reason the Authorize.net won't work.

    I get this error:

    Tax is required. - Your credit card could not be authorized for this reason. Please correct any information and try again or contact us for further assistance.
    in Checkout Step 2.

    Firstly, I'm not in the same state as the business, so I shouldn't even have any sales tax on anything I attempt to order. Secondly, this is the AIM module that was supplied with the latest version of Zen Cart, so it should just be plug & play.

    Is this something the clients doing with her Authorize.net account?

    I just feel like I'm beating my head into a brick wall, the women won't provide her Authorize.net account information to me so I can check it it's something she messed up in there.

    This would appear to be an account-related setting.
    The documentation (for the AIM module anyway) does not show x_tax as a required field.
    If their account settings are overriding that on the authorizenet (or maybe the bank) end, then that error message is possible I suppose.

    That's what I thought.

    Now just to convince her to give me the information so that I may take a look at it, or have her figure it out herself!

    Thanks SO much!

    You could call authorize.net tech support an ask about the issue. They may not help with her specific account without you authenticating yourself, but at least they could talk about what issues may trigger that mandatory issue.

    Ok, so I called Authorize.net up and they're saying it's not from them...They're insistent that it's a problem with the shopping cart. But what I don't understand is if the module is already integrated into the Zen Cart installation, why this is happening. Could my client have messed with any settings in the Admin that would cause the error?

    Tax data is not submitted by the integrated module.
    This is the first I've seen anybody report that error. Hence the suggestion that it's something awry with their account settings, causing it to suddenly "require" that tax data be submitted.

    Is she using SIM or AIM? AIM is the better one.

    Their own documentation shows that "tax" is OPTIONAL -- *not* a "required" item:
    http://www.authorize.net/support/AIM_guide.pdf - page 17
    http://www.authorize.net/support/SIM_guide.pdf - page 26

    Further, the error message *IS* coming from them. The transaction response data shows it:
    [0] => 3
    [1] => 2
    [2] => 33
    [3] => Tax is required.
    The real question then becomes ... WHY are THEY sending back THAT error message ?

    She is useing AIM.

    I believe I'm just going to foward the log to her and have her call Authorize.net. They of course will not give me any information on her account or change things without her authorization.

    Hopefully this can get straightened out by them on monday. I will be sure to post the results so if this problem ever comes up for anyone else, the fix will go much smoother.

    I really, really appreciate your help with this!

    Was this problem resolved? I am experiencing the same problem and would appreciate any feedback on how to fix it. Thanks.
