help question Customer Order Didnt Show In Admin (GoDaddy vs PayPal IPN)

    Hi All,

Just got an order confirm email from paypal, everything is as should be.
However while the customers name shows in my customer his order is not listed under his customer info or in orders.

I created a test account walked through checkout fine. Got the emails and I see it in admin/customers and admin/orders.

I used check or money order for my test checkout ( no paypal )
    Customer used paypal ipn.

I have only had a few orders but have never had this happen. 2 things have changed in my store since my last known successful real checkout. The curl proxy.
1 Dont remember if it is default to false or not but is set to true now.
2 Gave a curl proxy address for godaddy ( my host ) .

    What do I do?

In Addition, I made the curl address change in accordance with Paypal Express Checkout. I had PEC installed and everything was in order but I uninstalled it until I can get ssl for my site.
So would setting up the PEC and then removing it have this effect?

Turning off PPEC should not have any negative impact on IPN.
Removing or changing files would hurt it, but changing admin settings by clicking "Remove" should not impact IPN activity.

To use PPEC for checkout does not *require* SSL any more than any other method would. Since PPEC doesn't collect CC info directly on your site, having SSL only benefits you by protecting customer name/address info ... which is something you want, but you are not in violation of any requirements if you don't have it.

    To Do:

    1. ensure latest patch is installed:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56216

    2. ensure GoDaddy CURL support is set properly:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61528
Try the name instead of the IP address if you haven't already.

    3. turn on debug logging:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61199

    4. do some test transactions and post the logs.

    5. pray.

GoDaddy hosting is not something we specifically test on. There are no plans to do so. We might consider otherwise if they were to offer free hosting space for testing and development, but so far they're happy collecting money from everyone and stuffing them onto overloaded servers with oddball configurations.

    Dr. Byte

I did the patch yesterday, Curl was taken care of already.
Please note: orders and info carried over fine a few days ago.
The only thing that I can remember changing was install and uninstall of PPEC.

I dont have a second Paypal account to go all the way through a transaction.
I turned the log folder to 777 but it doesnt record logs I guess if the transaction stops before payment is made.

    Is there another way?

Hey, Anyone that has knowledge of this is free to just jump right on in here.

This is still going on and I can see through user tracking that Ive lost 3 sales today. Im guessing that people dont like to buy Item #1 and Item #2 . LOL

I have looked over these logs more than a few times. What I see is wrong I have no idea where or how to fix it.

Knowledgeable Folks Please Reply. We're dead in the water here.
    Thank You.

The best solution: Don't use GoDaddy.

Of course, that doesn't solve the problem for you "today", and you didn't want to hear that anyway.

The cause: fsockopen traffic isn't making its way outside their proxy server .... most likely because they don't want it to.

Even the fallback attempts to use alternate communication approaches are failing.

GoDaddy is such a pain to program workarounds for. But, lest I get on a rant that nobody cares about, I'll stop typing now.

    Thank You for the reply.
It has worked with godaddy for the last 2 months. This didnt start untill about 4 days ago around the time I had attempted using PPEC. Now that I know i dont need ssl for that I may do it soon.

However. I do believe that it was something I did or a file that has somehow become corrupted. I see the "fsockopen" but I also see that it says invalid url something about illegal characters. A few lines later it says that it may be missing the http:// . Did you see all that too? Where is that coming from?

GoDaddy said it is possible but we need to do this:

    [FONT=Arial]http://help.godaddy.com/article.php?article_id=1782

They give the code needed but I dont know where to use it.
They are discussing use of php5.ini and then on to talking about using another .php5 file. So now im confused. What kind of file do I add all that code to?

I found the answer please help me use it.
    Thank You ,
