    Default configure.php CHMOD to what?

Hi, I am getting an error on my site:

Warning I am able to write to the configureation file: /includes/configure.php

Do I need to CHMOD the configuration.php file? I've tried to change it to 666 and 444, and 644, nothing seems to work.

    Any help with this one?

NOTE: some hosting sites do not give you permission to chmod 444 via FTP ... make sure that it is actually getting changed ...

If not, use your Control Panel to modify the permissions ...

NOTE: there are a few hosting sites where even this is not enough ... if this proves to be the case, and you cannot alter the permissions via your Control Panel to address this, then let us know and we can give you the "Last Resort" solution as well ...

CuteFTP is not the problem ... your hosting site is not giving you rights to make that change ... might ask them why ...

For those of you using Windows, you will need to either have your host do this, or if you have access to your web server, then follow these instructions. (I DON"T KNOW WHY SOME PEOPLE HAVE TO BE SO CRYPTIC)

    1. Use Windows Explore and find the configuration.php file.

    2. Right click on it and choose Properties.

    3. On the General tab next to Attributes, check the READ ONLY box and then click OK.
