    Default Downloads not saving to computer

    I am attempting to set up music dowloads on a site. I thought everything was going well but when I try to download a file it acts as if it is downloading but nothing shows up. Has anyone experienced this. It seems very odd. I cannot figure out what I am missing.

    Hi,

    Could you post more information on the problem? Have you changed anything lately? Is this your first download attempt or was it working fine before? I would just like a bit more info so I can help you out.

    Well, I thought the downloads were working initially, but now I can't remember if I actually looked for and tried to open a downloaded file. I think I may have just assumed that they were working because the download manager comes up and appears to be downloading properly. You can see the green progress bar, and the amount of the file that has transferred changes as usual. Now, that I've gone back and actually LOOKED for the files I downloaded, I can't find ANY of them, so I'm pretty sure that it never was working.

    I did make some changes to the includes\modules\pages\download\header_php.php file (for reasons that don't really matter to this discussion) But then, after I realized there was a problem, I undid those changes. Actually I replaced that file with the ORIGINAL unchanged file for a new zencart installation. And the behavior is exactly the same as with my changed version. So it doesn't seem like think that has anything to do with it.

    One odd thing I have noticed is that the file size shown in the download manager is less than that displayed in the 'View Orders' area. I'm attaching a zipped word doc with screenshots of this.

    The Zen Cart installation is on a Windows NT server, so I'm assuming that the streaming option is being used. I have tried changing the options in the product attribute settings manager, but with no luck. If I try to use the 'redirect' option, the download manager only pops up for two seconds (but then shows a 'Download Complete' box, something that doesn't happen otherwise) The file appears to be downloaded, but when I try to open, I get an error saying it is corrupted. From reading, I understand that this redirect option should not be used on Windows servers, so I'm assuming this is why I get this behavior. But doing this does show that my downloads aren't fully 'completing', since I don't usually get that 'Download Complete' box when I'm NOT set to download by redirect. Does this make any sense?

    The downloads also seem to be going rather slowly. They are big files, but even so, they're downloading (or NOT downloading as the case may be...) slower that most websites. I've tried downloading from other sites, with no problem, so I know it's not an issue with my computer or browser settings.

    Anyway, I appreciate your help very much. If you have any more questions...shoot them over!

    One more thing...I just added an attribute with a small text file, instead of the larger mp3 files I had been using. When I tried to download it, the download completed (in 2 seconds) and the file was actually THERE in the folder I saved it too (unlike with the mp3 files) BUT when I opened it up, it only had the first half of the text I typed into it. The end was cut off.

    More stange behavior notes...
    The text file I'm trying to test with is 125 bytes. The My Orders area lists this file accurately at 125 bytes. When I click the download button, the first popup is the 'Open or Save' dialog, which also lists the file at 125 Bytes. The file download dialog runs too quickly for me to see how big it thinks the file is, but when the file download is complete, the file is only 71 bytes, and the end of the text is cut off as I mentioned before.

    This is slightly different from what happens with the mp3 files. With them, the file size shown in the My Orders area is slightly larger than the actual file size, but the file size shown in the 'Open or Save' dialog and the File Download dialoag is the correct size. And, as I mentioned before, the files do not complete downloading with the mp3s. When it looks like the download has reached 100%, the dialog just disappears. But the file does not show up on my computer.

    Ok, now I'm getting a message that 'Internet Explorer cannot download the file: filename. The connection with the server was reset.' This wasn't happening earlier, and the only thing I changed was to add a set_time_limit(600); at the beginning of download/header_php.php

    Also, the file download dialog spends a LONG time at 99% with '1 sec' left.
