Default Header, Footer, and Page Customization

Hi everyone. I am new to Zen cart. I have used php before with my forum, although I was able to add outside includes. Here is my customisation question.

    My homepage is here: http://www.lasilhouettelingerie.com/index.php

As you can see on the top, I have my logo. I want to take the tag line, and zen cart logo off so that whole top portion is gone. I also want my logo on the top left corner, to have information about the store in the top right corner (like name, address, phone number, and slogan). The top navigation, home, and log-in button I want to move right below the logo. I also want to change the footer easily.

Basically I want to change the header and footer, and don't know much php.

I have a custom template, with the correct folders already created. So my changes don't change, when s new version of zen comes along. Should I create a header and footer in html, and then use includes to add them (this would give me great flexibility in the look of my header and footer)? Or should I modify the header and footer template, put them in my custom folder of my custom template?

If I use includes, where can I add the include header and include footer? If you think I should modify my header and footer via the standard method, what are the names of the files that need modified?

Although this question is not related to the layout of my site, how do I change the meta tags for the pages (home page to start with)? I don't want the default zen cart all over my meta tags, I need my store information there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you can convert the grass.jpg image to a gif and then name it logo.gif you should be able to have it in the left corner with no coding - but as there is no logo being displayed you must have changed something??? Once converted it should be loaded to /includes/templates/latemplate/images/logo.gif

this is in a file located at includes/languages/english/meta_tags.php and you copy your edited file to includes/languages/english/latemplate/meta_tags.php

It's me the same user who submitted the post. Had to create another account, because I forgot my password (I wish Zen forum would enable the password reminder feature !)

Anyway, back to the subject. I was able to change my meta tags, thank you for your help kobra. I was also able to add a header include to my custom template>common folder> tpl_header.php file. This is what I added for the header include: <? include("name of your html file include.htm") ?>

I will be able to figure out the footer include as well.

Now my problem lies with spacing and removing of objects. Please look at my home page here: http://www.lasilhouettelingerie.com/

Right under my banner include, you will see tag line goes here, and on the right, you will see my logo again (which is my own logo uploaded over the zen logo). I want to remove that logo completely, the tag line goes here text, and the spacing. So that the navigation menu, comes right underneath my banner header.

I have read the tutorials about changing the tagline goes here, and even the "Congratulations! You have successfully installed your Zen Cart™ E-Commerce Solution." I have added the new files with changes to the appropriate folders (according to the tutorials), but they are not being overwriten! How can I delete all of this (I won't need it in the future).

Anyone know how to do this, so when I upgrade in the future, I don't have to change this again? I do have my template directory in order, according to the posts, and tutorials. It just doesn't seem to work for this header text and picture.
Anyone, know how to do this?

    melena,

You should start your own thread . . .
how do I change the fonts of the sales message?
is it possible to change its position in the header?
The font is predicated by what the viewer has loaded and why the stndars web fonts are defined - -if you wnat something different and want to insure that all see it the way you want you must make it an image.
Position can be controlled through the stylesheet.css file for your template.

    Where is your site?
