Can I sell tours with Zen Cart?

I'm comparing various versions of OSC forks and other carts. My products are mostly tours sold to tourists at home, planning their vacations. Let's say I'm selling a catamaran trip. There are two prices (adult and child) and a group might have 4 adults and 2 kids. The tour also might only run Tuesdays and Fridays and they have to select dates that work. Then the same person might want to add airport transportation (where the price is based on where their resort is in the area). Instead of joining/registering, I'd like the only checkout step (beyond confirming quantity) to check each product in the cart for any required "extra info" (like their arrival date, what resort they are staying at, under what name, when they leave, etc.)

I also want to create a backend report system for "manufacturers" (or tour service providers) so they can see the customers for today, tomorrow, and coming up, and also so that they can acknowledge that they've "got" that reservation, otherwise it would show up on a redlisted report for me, as unconfirmed but sold (waiting for manufacturer to confirm.)

I'm trying to figure out how all the product attributes work and hope that someone might save me some time... "hey, no, you need to add this module..." or "you'll need to get some code modifications done..." or "you are out of luck...".

I don't think there's a module for tour sales in either oscommerce or zen cart. however you can sell the tours with zen cart.

I can tell you that I have tried all of the open source shopping carts and went with zen cart because it's faster, and easier to setup.

There are two ways to go about selling the tours. I'm pretty sure you can setup the listings to have a quantity box so that they can type in the quantity of the item you are buying. It shouldn't be too difficult to add another box for children.

Another method would be to setup packages for the average number of adults and children in each family then have another listing for each tour with a quantity of 1 for an adult and a separate listing for 1 child. That way they can buy the package deal and add the amount of tours for additional people.

You can find a zen pro that can do this for you in the forum.

I'm going to need to implement a system that allows the customer to choose from 1 to 12 adults and 1 to 6 kids not packages, I think that would be too many choices and confusing, plus choose zones/resorts from a list for where they are staying. The last part I think you can do out-of-the-box with attributes/variables.

I'm supposed to get more done when I manage others instead of getting lost doing detail programming work, which I can manage but I'm slow and pondersome. Looking for a programmer for Zen Cart if anyone has a suggestion. :)

This could all easily be done with the attributes controller.
