xhtml problem Lost Search in my header...ack

I hate to even post this question because I should be able to figure it out...but I'm so frustrated it is my last resort.

I am fairly knowledgable with the override system having worked on a previous ZC site but for whatever reason I seem to have lost my search field in my header. I've moved a few things around and guess I deleted it without realizing it.

When I try to copy the code from the default template and place it back in my override template I start throwing errors.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

Did you change templates? Have you checked the search box setting in the admin?

Did I change templates? Do you mean am I creating my own template set? If so, then yes. But in my haste I appear to have deleted the portion of the code that displays the search field in the header.

I moved some stuff around in my override files (I totally understand the override system) and I think when I did I was a bit overeager removing code I didn't need and deleted the search code.

If I grab the code from the default template and place it in my template I get errors and the page pretty much stops loading at the point where the search code messes it up.

It shouldn't be that difficult to figure out, I must just be having a rough day.

I'm not sure anything in the admin settings would matter. I KNOW that the code to display the search field is not present in my template. I've compared against the default template.

Am I making sense, or merely rambling on? I tend to ramble sometimes.

I suggest you rename the file you deleted the search code from, copy the original into the same folder and start over with that file.

Alternately, you can get a program like WinMerge to compare them for you. It'll highlight what's different/missing between the two files.

Thanks. Same realization I came to this morning as well.
