Help with a free product

I have a couple free products (downloads) that I offer on my site.

I don't need a new order created every time somebody downloads this product.

Is there a way to set that up so that I don't get a bunch of useless orders in my admin every time someone downloads this product?

Evidently this is too hard of a question to answer.

Put the link to the free downloads on a different page instead of making them products that have to be checked out.
