Default Stock by Attribute not working - allows checkout?

I downloaded and installed Stock By Attribute 4.4 and everything seems to be working. However, we are having issues with it allowing customers to check out with more items than are available without giving our "insufficient stock" message. Customers who try to check out with more than the total quantity of all the attributes get the usual error message. It may be easier to give an example.

I have an item at http://bodybangles.net/index.php?mai...oducts_id=2350

that has 5 colors - I have 4 in stock of each color - for a total quantity of 20. If a customer chooses 5 of any particular color, they do not get an "Insufficient Stock" message as they should, because there are only 4 in stock. It is only after I place 21 in the cart that I get an "insufficient stock" message. It appears that the program is not checking individual stock - only total.

Sorry to add to the mishap.
The contrib works great but I would like a fix for this issue.
I need it really bad because we carry thousands of items and not all are in stock, so I would like it to show "in stock" when available, and "on back order" when not in stock.
We can get the item quickly, we just want the customer to know that he must expect an extra delay of couple days.
Anyway, we don't charge the credit card until we ship the item.
    Please help with this.
    Thanks.

Does anyone know if this has been fixed yet? I am having major problems with this now and having to offer regular refunds now.

I am having the same issue...

Rather than deducting from the attribute (let’s say, 1 pink dress in size 10) when you put an item in the shopping cart, it deducts from the total product quantity. So, if I have 10 dresses in stock, and only one is pink, size 10, it will let the person put 11 dresses in their cart (all pink, size 10) before giving the out of stock message!

We created a new product, just to make sure something funky didn’t happen with the export that caused the products and attributes to not link up properly – same issue with the new product.

There must be a “switch” somewhere to tell the system to allow the attributes to deduct the stock totals, but we fail to find it...

    HELP!

I am having the exact same issue, does anyone have any pointers on this? Maybe this is already solved and I am looking for it in the wrong place?

the total # from the attribute doesn't get subtracted after a sale thus allowing a checkout for a product with insufficient stock.

Alright I found the solution, In case someone was looking... Like its mentioned in the FAQ, its probably because all the files didn't make it up there. I noticed for some odd reason The orders.php file was still the old one. and tpl_shopping_cart_default.php needed to be replaced as well. hope this helps someone out.

Just stumbled across this thread. Answers would have been received faster if people had posted in the support thread for the mod which is monitored regularly, rather than starting and adding to new threads.

The mod, when installed correctly, works. However, unless your FTP settings ensure that all files that need to be are over-written it won't work. ajoyt is spot on. The other cause of the described symptoms is leaving copies of the overwritten files on your site where they can over-ride the new files and negate their effects.

Both of these are explained in more depth in the support thread which can be found using the forum search.

Questions about showing stock levels or stock indicators are discussed there too.
