    Default Globally Setting Default Attribute

I've recently decided to make a default attribute for my selections.

I already had about 40 products setup without this default attribute.

My question is this: How can I set the default attribute for all of them at once, rather than going through each product (40products x 7 attributes each = a lot o f wasted time clicking update).

    Is this possible??

    Thanks.

Default Re: Globally Setting Default Attribute

Sorry for the previous POST !!

Well, toy can do the following :

I do not know wich version you have, but this work in version 1.3.7

    1. Make a new product in any category and name it Default Attributes or as you like. Just give it a name, easy to remember.

    2. Change "Product Priced by Attributes:" to YES. There is no need to configure all fields, as price, description, product image etc. Just give the product the name and change "Product Priced by Attributes:" to YES.

    3. In Admin -> Cataloge -> Categtories/Products , find your product and click in the status column , in the product's line where you see "V" so the product is disabled and not showing in your store. Now you should see "X" in the status column in the product's line.

    4. In this product's line, click the attributes icon, or go to Admin -> Cataloge -> Attributes Controller and add YOUR DEFAULT ATTRIBUTES to this product.

    5. In the same screen you should find the button "Copy To" and below it the word "CATEGORY". Press this button.

    6. First select a category. All attributes from your Default Attribute product will be copied in all products of this category. BE CAREFULL and select the radio button " Ignore and add only new attributes".

This way is not exactly what you need, but all new attributes from Default Attribute product will present seperately to all products of the category where you copied them.

Another way is that you can go to Option Name Manager, in the bottom of the page and Copy ALL Option Values to another Option Name, wich will do the following :

All Option Values will be copied from one Option Name to another Option Name

So make an option name with the default values you want and use this feature.

If you want your Default Option values to be copied to ALL PRODUCTS then use the first choise, in the Option Name Manager wich will do the following :

Update ALL existing products that have at least ONE Option Value and Add ALL Option Values in an Option Name

This way, you just select the option name wich is your default option name with all values on it, and you press Update !!
