    Default Dumb copy/paste question

    Hi,
I am busy putting in all of my products and have previously typed out all of my long descriptions on Word. When I try to highlight and copy my description typed in word and then paste it into the Product Description portion of Zen Cart - I don't have the option to paste? What am I doing wrong?? Do I have to re-type everything? The instruction book says to copy and paste but I'm not sure why I don't have that option....anyone else have this problem or know the answer??? Thanks!!! Tiffany

I don't know why you don't have the option, as I don't use Word and don't know what editor if any you have for the description box. Have you tried the control-C to copy and control-V to paste?

    Try this:

    Develop your description in word.
    Highlight and copy.
In zen cart on description Ctrl & V at the same time.

I tried both ways and it still isn't working...When I used Ctl+C in word it brought up the clipboard but Ctl+V and Paste still won't work in Zen....I have Windows Vista which may be the problem - I know there are still some "kinks" from what I've heard...???
This is unfortunate because my web guy has practically bailed on me saying we got in over his head with the shopping cart - he didn't realize how many products and sizes and colors etc. that I would have...he hasn't used Zen Cart before so we are kind of on a steep learning curve together...I will probably be asking a lot of questions with simple answers...I appreciate your help!!!!
    Thanks!

    Tiffany,
I tried your process it worked for me.

    Type your description in word.
Highlight the wording and right mouse click and copy.
In zen cart description page click on right mouse and paste.

I did this of course...it seemed like the easiest way...I think it may be a Vista issue..??? I consider myself pretty computer literate...that's why this is so frustrating..

try typing one of your descriptions into notepad and then copy and paste from there. If you saved your work in word it sometimes does some funky stuff with the formatting, it still SHOULD have worked but welcome to Vista.....

In Internet Explorer there is an advanced feature that denies access to the clipboard... it is under the security settings section under the security zones... (I think that is where it is... I am at work and they dont have IE7 yet)

The three settings are allow, deny, and prompt. Just change it to Allow and it should work..

    Hope this helps.

I think I figured out the problem - apparently (as Im sure a bunch of you know,) there is a text editor in zen cart that wasn't activated on my program ( I don't konw why, but, if you are having this problem you should look into it..)...since my new web guy realized this and activated it I have had no problem with using CTL+C and CTL+V to copy and paste!!! Hope this helps any of you guys having this problem - it is definately a necessary tool if you are entering in ALL of your products yourself and descriptions overlap..... Thank you for all of your suggestions and help!!
P.S. I don't use IE anymore - switched to Mozilla and am much happier - especially with the tabs thing...Mozilla just let you DO it instead of waiting for an explanation on HOW to use it... -)!

another Hot tip for those who are experiencing problems with this.

If you are copying a text copy it in what way you like, ctrl+v, rightclick mouse and copy, etc etc.

I'm using Mozilla, when i try to paste using ctrl+v its complains but it still lets my paste. BUT when i paste using rightclick mousebutton and choosing "paste" it works perfectly without a complaint what so ever.
I figure it should work the same way on iexplorer.
So you guys might want to try this version aswell if you are having problems.

a question to TheFurrFactor; how and where is this text editor in zencart that your webguy activated?

    thanks
