Do you have much product info etc in the database? If you do, make a backup of that now. You can import the backup into your rebuilt cart db and save some time there. The files don't hold any of that, just functionality changes and template stuff.
Actually I do have quite a bit in the catalog, I just don't know which files I need to copy! I was hoping that was possible, it'd save me LOTS of time.
Thanks!
Ross
Do a fresh reinstall of the whole cart, with a new database. Then import your old db into the new. There are complete instructions for this in the FAQs/tutorials; and the installer walks you through if you take the time to read the directions for every step.
This won't take much time at all, as long as you somewhat remember what you did the first time.
That has already been done while moving the site from a different host where he was testing out the cart. The cart seemed to work just fine before the move from the old server to the new.
I followed the instructions in the FAQ for moving a site from server to server precisely. I installed, uploaded the old files over the new (with the exception of the config files) and imported the database.
The only thing I didn't do as instructed was overwrite the files in the admin folder with the ones from the old server, there were complications. The cart he is having problems with has all of it's pages intact, the ones I deleted were on the other server and were not transferred over to prevent overwriting a good file with one that was corrupt from the little mishap.

Before I completely blow gasket over here can anyone tell me what's up with my cart? We did a complete reinstall last nite, uploaded the database. I ran a test and everything worked great, except we found we had to reinstall the FedEx module. We did that. When I went in this morning to finish fixing product pics I discovered we can't get into checkout and the shipping estimator doesn't work - again! In case you need the url it's www.gcstoys.com This makes no sense at all to me! Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Ross

Actually no. The cart still is unhappy. It may have something to do with the FedEx module... It's not an issue anymore though, Tina is happily making me a new template and fixing whatever we messed up. I was a bit surprised how easy it was to fix image size. I just saved as jpegs (even stuff that was jpegs) and everything went to about 10% of it's size in k. Confused me greatly, I'm told it may been the compression ratio... Learn something new every day!
TinaS is rather good at this ... glad to hear that she is helping get your site back on track ...![]()
