can't change sidebox position from left/right to center

Hi, I'm trying to change the 'information' box from its current position on the left column to the bottom of the main/center column. i've been to Tools-> Layout Boxes Controller and changed the sideboxes/information.php from LEFT/RIGHT to SINGLE column status. when i do this, however, the box disappears entirely. when i switch it back to LEFT/RIGHT column status, it comes back. does anyone know why this might be happening? and, of course , what i can do to fix it? Thanks much.

It could be a few things. The template is the first to come to mind. Then mods that you may have added. etc.

Any more info?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I'm trying my best to create my own template (bb_template) so i've undoubtedly changed a few things here and there. the main change i made that might have some bearing on this situation is i moved the footer info over to the left column. or, more specifically, i put the legalInfo into the left column and removed it from the footer completely. does the Information box, when switched to show up in the center column, show up in the footer? or simply at the bottom of the center column?

As far as mods go, do you mean modifications or module changes (hahah sorry...) i haven't played around much with the modules files. most of my editing has occured within the css and the zencart admin.

The "single column" setting does not put the box in the center column. I'm not actually sure how it is supposed to function, but I saw a post by Ajeh explaining that it is for a hardly-ever-used kind of layout that might be relevant to someone in the future.

if changing the position from left/right to single-column won't work (for moving my information box to the middle) then any ideas on what might work?

I found an easy workaround (yay!) I just made EZpages for each of the links that I wanted from the Information sidebox and simply positioned them in the footer. To figure out what to put for the Internal links URL, i visited each of the Information sidebox links before i turned the sidebox off and copied and pasted the necessary info from the address bar straight into my EZ pages internal URL field. Super easy, and accomplishes just what i wanted!
