EZ Pages Idea for TOC

Hello Everyone,

I am using Ez Pages and loving it. However I have come up to a small dilemma.

I am writing a bunch of articles that all have the same theme but do no share the same titles.

So my proposal is: Can someone update the ez_pages to allow you when creating multiple pages utilizing the TOC feature to have a optional Chapter Title as well so that you can basically have a book. Example

Title heading --> Installations guides
     chapter title --> Install part 1
     chapter title --> Install part 2
     chapter title --> Install part 3
     chapter title --> Install part 4

In the attachment ez_pages_admin you can see what the admin would look like.

The Catalog would look like the second attachment ez_pages_catalog. In this example you can see we have a Page Title over the whole chapter group of pages (Installation guides) in the red box

Then you can see in the green box the Chapter Title (Install PMPARAV100 Battery). Obviously when you change chapters the Page Title would stay the same if you name them all the same and just the chapters would change.

Notice that the breadcrumbs have the Page Title - Chapter title which gives you Home :: Installation Guide - Install PMPARAV100 Battery

Also The page title for the whole page that is displayed on the browser header bar should reflect the same as the breadcrumbs.

I don't know how to php yet so I cant do this myself, the changes you see in the screen shots are html versions just to show what I was going for

Isn't that what the default is??

From the demo install:

Table of Contents

    *  * EZPages
    *  - What is EZ-Pages?
    *  - A New Page
    *  - Another New Page

Where:

EZPages           = Installations guides
What is EZ-Pages? = Install part 1
A New Page        = Install part 2
etc

If it is then I dont know how to set it up. I am doing exactly what the ez_pages set up guides tell me what to do..

If you know how to configure that and it is something that I'm missing.... please tell me what to do if you know how to do what i'm trying to accomplish.

Do another install to another folder with a new DB from the downloaded fileset distribution. Proceed slowly - and look for "install Demo products" or something similar to this as there is a wealth of examples and explanations on the frontend and then you can also look at the admin for this inatall to see how this was setup.

Hello Kobra,

I believe that you have misunderstood my original post. Ez_pages does not work the way I suggested in the original post. I did another fresh install with the demo installed and it work exactly the way my ez_pages works.

What I want to accomplish is having a a header title that stays the same while a chapter title changes. Look at the screenshot of the catalog again to see what I'm talking about. The Msin title of the group of pages always stays the same even when you bump around in the chapters. Only the chapter titles will change.

So again I ask is there anyone that will help me accompplish this. Im sure there not much to make this happen.

I have tried using one ez-page with an internal link the linked to the articles I was writing to acheive my results that I am trying to achieve however it is not working. just reloads the page from the article and I lose the heading that I want to stay.

anyone want to help improve ez-pages versatility?

Yes I am.. Here is my ez-pages..

I want the title of the whole group of the pages to be called Installation Guide and then I want the chapters (Install PMPARAV100 Battery) to load in there title below the Installation Guides title...

Even If I switch to another chapter for instance Install PMPARAV300 Battery I want the main book title Installation Guide to remain there at the top like so.

I also want the title for the page to reflect:
(book title) - (chapter title), (regular meta title info)
which result:
Installation Guide - Install PMPARAV100 Battery, Batteriesinaflash....

You can see that the Installation title is in the center column upper left corner, while the chapter title is below the navigation buttons center page....

Notice it is the same ez-page admin except that I added a a chapter title underneath the the Page title which would be how you make the difference in the naming scheme. The user would make all the same exact setup as the current ez-page setup now the only difference if the user wants a book, chapter setup then they would name the page title all the same and all the chapters with in the book different names.

Like I said, I know that this isnt very complicated to achieve but I'm not a PHP'er. That is why Im looking for a little help
