Installation hangs

Ok I'm a total noob here - please be gentle -

My installation hangs after phpBB setup - ok maybe it doesn't hang so much as at the url:

http://MYWEBSITE/zencart/zc_install/index.php?main_page=store_setup&language=english

gives me a completely white page.

Now I know sooner or later your going to tell me to ensure all of the files are there - I've done that - I've ftp'd the files twice and done a manual check - the files are there - whether or not they're corrupt - I don't know.

Any ideas ???

OK I have been reading the other installation hangs threads - none seem to hang at the same point as me - but I have noticed that you generally ask for versions of things:

Is that enough to go on or do you need something more ???

One other thing - on the phpBB setup screen - all of the dropdon boxes are empty - !!!
