yes - the /download folder should be read-only
the /pub folder should be read-write if using download by redirect.

P.S. I should mention that I'm trying to have video downloads. That is possible with Zen Cart, right? Is any file type acceptable? (Quicktime, Windows Media, avi, etc.)

On a fresh install, the /pub folder should be in your /public_html folder ... just like all the rest of your Zen Cart files. ie: along with your "includes" and "download" and "email" and "admin" etc.

Zen Cart doesn't care what you supply to your customers via download. Originally Posted by mediaman
