Define Pages / EZ Pages

Hi Kobra

You,ve been geat in helping me in the past and as i'm using your template i thought i should ask you this question also! Hope you don't mind.

I am using ezpages with great eaze, they're actually quite simple to operate if you just think about what you want to do with them in the first place, problem is: The table of contents box is quite wide and i was wondering how i can go about editing the size of it?

My website is still a work in progress, but if you can spare a moment to have a look at it and see what critism (good & Bad) you could offer i would really appreciate it.

It's ok, i found it in the css file ezpagestoc_wrapper width 37% changed it to suit.

Why do external links within an EzPage not working? It'll connect to www.myzencard.com/www.externallink.net - the link is actually to www.externallink.net

Not quite sure why this isn't working for you, just wondering! did you create the external link with the http:// in front of the web address you want to link to?? I found that this solved the problem for me...

I have used a define pages generator with great results. Much easier than creating them manually. All it takes is to choose a name for them, type your template name, and choose where to create the files on your computer. FTP them to your site, and you are all done except editing the page and linking to it. No overwrites, and all in the correct file structure.

I use both ez pages and defines. I hated the defines until I found this generator: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=804

Just thought I would add to the conversation...

PS..I use this define pages generator on my 1.3.8 site.

For illustration use the page_2 as a guide
Try starting over and in these areas edit or create what is required changing only the reference to page_2 to page_5...get it to work in that default generic form before you begin changing things like "Zimbabwe Orphans Endeavor'"
Just the straight page_5 references to start.

Create/clone these as page_5
/includes/modules/pages/page_2/header_php.php
/includes/languages/english/page_2.php
/includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_page_2_default.php

Add/edit these to include page_5
/includes/modules/sideboxes/more_information.php
/includes/languages/english.php
/includes/filenames.php

Create define_page_5.php in both of these folders
/includes/languages/html_includes
/includes/languages/html_includes/your_template

This should net you a generic page_5 in the "More Information" sidebox
You can then begin using this in your overrides areas

Once this works you can move on to custom titles etc - one at a time so you can track back if it breaks

Hi Kobra and All....

I tried your recommendation above and it worked like a charm. I have a quick question though... I am a little concerned about what will happen if I need to upgrade my ZenCart in the future. Will all these changes disappear since most of them are not in my custom template (except for the last change)? Will they get overwritten with the new files that will come with the new version?

I look forward to hearing from you guys... BTW... You guys do an amazing job helping out others here!!!

When you create a new page, one that is not in the core code, you do not have to worry about it getting overwritten :).

Hi Kim,

I agree that is the case with some of the files but what about files like these....

/includes/modules/sideboxes/more_information.php
/includes/languages/english.php
/includes/filenames.php

Will they get updated/overwritten? I have yet to do an upgrade so I'm not too sure if they get updated or not.
