Increase/Decrease QTY from categories.php Page

Hello all!

I have searched high and low through the support forums and have found nothing that would allow me to increase or decrease the quantity of a certain product without having to edit the item, change the quantity, preview and update.

Can this be done? I should hope so.

The best I can think of is a single URL:

/admin/categories.php?action=setflag&flag=1&pID=3154&cPath=70&page=1

The above URL turns the product status ON or OFF, right?

So why not have something like:

/admin/categories.php?action=increase&flag=1&pID=3154&cPath=70&page=1

And...

/admin/categories.php?action=decrease&flag=1&pID=3154&cPath=70&page=1

I am sure this is possible and can be figured out in 5 minutes or less by many of you who are gracious enough to help out the newbie Zenners...

I thank you very much in advance for helping make life a LOT easier for those who have fluctuating inventory (items come in and out from retail locations, which require the addition/subtraction of inventory on the website).

Also, I am having a HECK of a time with searches that don't display which Category an Item is located in. Advanced search only shows the title, not the category in which the title is found.

What you are posting are in the files (albeit meant to be drawn from the DB) and this is where the qty values exist so you would require some php/mysql code to insert into the db a new value in to the correct product and not the category.

Quite a bit more complicated that what you have posted

Is it? I can understand a piece of code, however, you're talking about chaning just one field. The information I need is probably in the preview file (the one you go to after editing the page). So I just need to look in there and see how it saves the edits made. Find the right section where it saves the quantity variable and tell it when it receives $get[flag] == "increase" to take qty++ and save or $get[flag] == "decrease" then qty--; Or similar.

So yes, a little bit of coding there, but for those who are wizzes at this stuff, still only a few minutes of work that I bet most zen cart users would love.

Think about what happens when you get new stock in and want to add it to your store? Adding 100 items could take an hour to add everything in!

Yeah, I don't think so. I went from using a flat-file system to using Zen Cart. Why would I want to go backwards. I'm a little amazed that this is too hard for this forum... or at least that's what I'm getting from this. I posted something similar to this one a while back and not one "totally zenned" person responded.

I'll just have to figure it out on my own and perhaps create my own mod for others to use. Considering I don't know php (before installing Zen Cart anyway) and I'm a very busy person, it may take a while.

This "Forum" is made up from individuals like you and I, so that I do not agree with your analysis of anything being too hard!!
Maybe you mis interrperted what this forum is or is made up from...

Your looking at $get[flag] statements is not how this would update the DB you shoud be seeking statements more along the line of

$sql = "insert into " . TABLE_WHERE_QTY_IS . "
                              (products_id, $qty)
