How is Zen Cart Put Together?

OK Folks,

I can do PhP & MySQL generally working things out as I go.

Turned to Zen, as functionality is awesome and would take years for me to develop so why re-invent the wheel?

I have been trying to understand and modify somewhat but progress here is slow. Something is missing...

A CLEAR way of understanding how Zen Cart is put together. All of the files what they do, kind of a Haynes Manual (not sure if you get them in the States).

I Just can't get my head around how it is all put together.

Is there a good guide laying all of the sections of the sites functionality out, what does what and links to what.?
