Default Allowing customers to buy quantities less than 1 and using decimals

    Hello,

I have a designer who's building me a store using Zen Cart and we're almost ready to go live, but we have one major problem: I'm selling fabric and I need people to be able to buy it in amounts less than 1, because we sell on measurements rather than standard products.

So, for instance, a customer should be able to put "0.25" into the quantity field because that relates to selling 0.25 metres of fabric.

We sell by 0.25 increments, so a customer should be able to buy 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, etc. We've managed to allow decimal places but it still comes up with an error when you go to the checkout.

Please can anyone help? Can this even be done with Zen Cart?!?

What is the error?? If a non-allowed increment is attempted to be purchased Zen Cart displays a stock warning...

    Thanks for replying, Kobra!

If you go here and add the quanity of 0.25 to your cart, you should see the errors displaying:

    Thanks!

PS: Please do not actually buy anything yet, as this is not a 'live' site!

database error Re: Allowing customers to buy quantities less than 1 and using decimals

You are going to have to adjust what and how you enter these items: in the product entry/setup screen you have these:

    Code:
    Product Qty Minimum: .25
    Product Qty Maximum:
Product Qty Units: 1 or maybe .25
I forget the last setting that works but seem to recall that for your use that "1" will work then in your quantity on hand you need to enter the same unit that you sell by and for you this is square metre...I would also add some text explaining how this is offered and sold as currently one does not see that this is in sq/m

Minimum Quantity is the lowest ... if you want to sell .25 you need this set to .25

Units is in what units or increments can something be purchased? If you want a minimum of .25 that units has to be .25 ... if you want the Minimum of 1 but in .25 increments, then again this should be .25 ...

NOTE: To allow for less than 1 you need also change the Product quantity decimals in the Configuration ... Stock ...
