Default Product weight, Shipping weight Differ

    Hello Everyone,

I am really starting to do well with website sales using the new zencart 1.3.7, however I have customer that purchase products that way 0.40lbs. but when the checkout process is done the total weight will be only 0.10lbs.

here is the actual specs from this product
    Model: LIC2L12
    Shipping Weight: 0.23lbs
    Manufactured by: Lenmar
However on checkout this is the acutal shipping results from my customer:
    Shipping: US Postal Service (1 x 0.10lbs) (First-Class Mail (2 - 5 days))
What do you think this is caused from.. I had a fresh install with an upgraded DB. I also tried to uninstall and reinstall the USPS module which did not work.

What is weird is that it doesnt alway happen. I cant replicate the problem.

    thank you,

    Batteryman

Just some thoughts to get you thinking:

    1) Did you check to make sure all shipping configuration settings under the new install are correct (Configuration > Shipping / Packaging) Look at things like "Tare Weight" etc...

    2) Could this section of the USPS shipping module (seen when in "edit" mode) be affecting your settings? It Reads ...

    All Packages are Machinable
Are all products shipped machinable based on C700 Package Services 2.0 Nonmachinable PARCEL POST USPS Rules and Regulations?

Note: Nonmachinable packages will usually result in a higher Parcel Post Rate Charge.

Packages 35lbs or more, or less than 6 ounces (.375), will be overridden and set to False

    3) Do you have any other special shipping criteria setup for certain products that may be causing it to adjust the weight?

Did anyone happen to notice any problems with the current shipping setting stated above.

I really need to get this figured out as to why I would have many orders that the products clearly state higer weights for the products and yet the total shipping weight ends up to be 0.10lbs at check out.

    Please suggest anything you can..

    Thank you,

I have not been able to reproduce this ...

How about the URL to your site and the exact products_id number being ordered and what you see and what you should see ...

A Ship From and Ship to address would also help
