Tip: Use TAX AMOUNT - not TAX in description

If prices are displayed including tax (e.g. VAT) the 'ot_tax' module displays the tax amount of the sub-total and shipping charges in the checkout. However, it can appear at first glance to be adding tax to the order.

I had the 'description' field for VAT set to 'Standard Rate VAT', but this looked like it was an addition. Changing it to 'VAT Amount' makes things clearer (IMHO) There again, I'm not that bright!

Below is an example for a £10 nett product with £3.50 nett shipping cost. VAT @ 17.5%

Sub-Total:                 £11.75

Flat Rate (Best Way):       £4.11

VAT Amount:                 £2.36

Total:                     £15.86

I would suggest changing the sort order to change the look of the output and make the Vat Amount the last line, after the total.

Sub-Total: £11.75

Flat Rate (Best Way): £4.11

Total: £15.86

VAT Amount: £2.36
