    Default Reset Admin Password

Does anyone know what happens when you click the "reset password" button in the admin>tools>admin settings? Does it automatically reset the pwd to something funky or does it let you enter a new password manually?

I installed a test cart on my site using the installation tool that came with my website cpanel, and it didn't allow me to choose a password. The test cart had a different pwd than my live cart. Firefox password manager doesn't differentiate between the 2 sites so it keeps trying to remember the same one for both. Unfortunately, when I forgot the one for my live cart I clicked the "resend" button and it created a new pwd instead of sending a reminder for what my pwd has always been. Now I have to search emails every time I go to log in because I can't remember the one my live cart generated.

So, back to the question...if I click the "reset password" button in admin>tools>admin settings, is it going to be the same thing all over again?

    Don't cha hate that?

I don't know why I can't remember to change the password to one I'll remember, but I don't. Actually I'm wrong, I do remember just after I close the browser.

You can change it in the admin by going to admin settings, I think its under tools.

As for what happens, the resend password crates a password with the minimum number of letters you've set in the configuration.

You can find the password in the database using phpmyadmin if you have it installed.

Another solution is to have the password written on the inside of your glasses. Always works for me, and some great conversations start up. Just keep the minimum number of letters required down to three, otherwise you'll have letters in front of your eyeball.

    Good luck. Now

Okay, so if I hit the "reset password thing in the admin tools it's going to just do the same thing...send me a password it makes up. I was hoping I could go in and edit the password myself. Seems odd that there's no way to do that (not to mention annoying). Oh well, I almost have the weird one it made me when I clicked "send password" on the login page memorized, so I guess I will stay as far away from that button as possible.

I had hoped that, once clicked, I would be taken to a screen where I could manually enter what I want the pwd to be. I hesitate to click buttons like that if I don't know what's going to happen next. LOL

    Thanks!

Once you have obtained the new password, you can go and set it to whatever you like via Admin->Tools->Admin Settings.

Oh!! Well, maybe I was unclear in my initial question because THAT is what I wanted to know before I clicked that button. I am already in the admin, having had the new pwd sent to me. I wanted to change it manually and that's why I wanted to know if that button in the admin>tools>admin settings would take you to a new screen or just reset it again.

Thanks for clarifying. That is exactly what I wanted to know.

Is there a problem with the cart emailing hotmail.co.uk and aol addresses?. Ive have a few people say that they are not getting the emails when requesting new password. Any Ideas?

I'm not sure about hotmail.co.uk addresses, but aol email address are notorious for giving anyone headaches with mail getting thru. It has nothing to do with zen-cart or anything on your end...it's the way aol filters mail for their users and/or their settings within aol mail.
