Documents Sidebox not showing up

I want the documents sidebox so i can put "about us" "shipping info", etc in there. I activated it in Admin->Tools->Layout boxes controller, right now it says:

Box Details: Box Name: document_categories.php Left/Right Column Status: ON Location: (Single Column ignores this setting) LEFT Left/Right Column Sort Order: 5 Single Column Sort Order: 5 Single Column Status: OFF
but i also tried it with the single column status on and still no dice.. any advice appreciated..

Do you have any categories set to Document General? First set that then set Product General and those Categories will be in that sidebox but you can add regular products too ...

I'm afraid you lost me there.. i clicked create new category but did not see any options there to set it to Documents General...
