application error PayPal Patch May 10th - Issues

I currently have ZenCar v1.3.7, hosted on a shared 1and1 server. I had some issues with PayPal where all of the orders that were generated via echeck would never show up in the zenCart Customer->orders screen. After reading about this patch I installed it.

The problem I experenced was in the payment modules. The PayPal Express Checkout option was missing, and the edit box to the right was missing. I was able to restore the orginal files to get my system back up and running.

In addation I have ZenMagic installed in the admin section, could this be a problem?

Has anyone had these issues with you May 10 07 patch? Is there a detail install just in case I missed somthing?

    Thank You

You mentioned that you installed, but removed the PayPal patch.
Did you end up re-installing it again?... checking to be sure that all the files went back into the right places?

You might want to check with the author of the "zenmagic" contribution, or try removing it to see if it is your problem.
Zen Cart tests its patches based on core code, not 3rd-party contributions.
You could try doing a fresh install of Zen Cart and applying the patch to see whether there is anything else that might be interfering with your setup.

Yes, the detailed installation instructions are contained in the same discussion thread as the patch files:

I would use my FTP software and rename the original file filename_OLD.PHP (adding the underscore and OLD) and then copy the new file, from the patch, into the folder. This allowed me to restore the original file and preventing anything from getting overwritten. Could this be the problem? I do this with many systems to prevent from being down when things go bad.

Yes, that is your problem. *.php files are auto-loaded. Try using *.php_OLD instead

Thanks that is what the problem was. I renamed all of my php files to filename.php_OLD. The patch appears to work well.

The only thing I could not check was the eCheck with PayPal. Will those orders show up in the admin window under customer->orders screen, once the order is placed? or do we need to wait for PayPal to clear the funds?

If the customer uses Express Checkout, then the order will show up right away.
In fact, it will also show up right away with PayPal IPN too.
After the echeck clears, provided that your communication between your server and Paypal is working properly, your store will be notified by PayPal that the echeck has cleared, and will auto-update the order status in the admin. It will not notify the customer though. PayPal sends an echeck clear notice to the customer.
